Four modules turn signals into a story

Petaira does not rely on one all-purpose model. Behavior and sound are recognized separately, then fused into context, and selected real moments can become stories.

A system, not one model

Behavior events and sound events are recognized independently. A fusion layer then combines duration, confidence, sleep and health-related evidence before the app turns the result into plain language.

Read quick moves and long routines

A six-axis motion sensor feeds a multi-scale 1D-CNN. Short, medium and long windows help distinguish quick jumps or posture changes from drinking, scratching, walking and eating.

Sound recognition

Turn sound into patterns AI can see

A first-stage classifier runs on the collar itself, so only your cat's vocalizations go on to the next step. There, audio becomes a time-frequency map, and a 2D-CNN separates purrs, coughs, sneezes, panting and different meow patterns.

Real moments in, a story out

Recognized events first form the day's timeline. Each evening, choose one real moment for a nine-panel highlight comic; any comic you love can optionally continue as a Vlog in the same visual style.

Good questions, answered

When does the Kickstarter campaign launch?

The date is being finalized. Subscribers will be the first to know the exact date and time, usually 48 hours before the public announcement.

How much will Petaira cost?

Retail is planned at $149. The public Early Bird tier is $99, and the VIP tier reserved with a $1 deposit goes to $89 — up to 40% off. Every tier includes the app's AI features at launch. Final tiers will be confirmed on the campaign page.

What is the $1 VIP reservation?

It's a $1 deposit that reserves the VIP tier at $89 — the lowest price of the whole campaign. The $1 is not an extra charge: it comes straight off the price, so you pay $88 on Kickstarter and $89 in total. On launch day we email you a private link that opens that tier. If we never launch, we refund the $1 in full; if you decide not to back us, we refund it after the campaign ends. Is there a monthly fee for the app?

Backer pricing includes the app and its AI features at launch, with nothing extra to pay to use Petaira as described on this page. Some of the heavier AI extras (longer videos, premium visual packs) will sit behind an optional paid tier later on. We're still finalising exactly where that line falls, and we'll publish the complete breakdown on our Kickstarter page before the campaign opens, so you can decide with the full picture in front of you.

What colors are available?

Sky Blue and Blossom Pink at launch. You'll pick your color after the campaign ends, in the backer survey.

Does Petaira track my cat's location?

Not in this version. There's no GPS in the collar, so it can't show you where they are on a map. What it does is read what they're doing, all day long. That was a deliberate trade-off: on a collar this small, GPS is by far the biggest drain on the battery, and we'd rather give you three days of use than a few hours of location. Location is on our roadmap for a future version. We'll tell you honestly when it's real, rather than promise a date we can't keep.

Does signing up cost anything?

No. Joining the list is completely free and comes with zero obligation. It just makes sure you're notified before the early bird spots run out. The $1 VIP reservation is a separate, optional step — you never have to take it.

Do you ship to my country?

For this first campaign we ship across North America and parts of Asia. The complete country list and shipping rates will be published on our Kickstarter page. We're not shipping to the EEA or the UK this time around. We'd rather open those markets properly than rush them.

When will it ship?

Estimated delivery is 1 month after the campaign ends. We're keeping the window short because production preparation is already underway.
